As a New Year starts make sure
your plans include quality time with OOTA. Be sure to attend Continuing
Education February 2 with how-to information on using the three national and
state professional groups that support Occupational Therapy. Your feedback from
each CE offering helps OOTA committees and the Executive Board plan future
activities to meet member needs. New committees are being formed throughout the
year as events and interest dictate. New by-laws under review can update the
association to move forward in a streamlined manner fitting the busy lives and
needs of OT practitioners in this new millennium. Keep up to date with all the
activities of your OOTA with full minutes of association meetings on the OOTA
website.

keeping OOTA member dues at last years levels: OT $55, OTA $25, Student $15,
organization $300, and associate $20. Recognition awards were presented to many
people who have served the association and the field of OT. For full details of

It was with mixed feelings that I recently received
Sharon Sanderson’s letter of resignation. She does so much for OOTA, Oklahoma,
and the profession of Occupational Therapy. In looking back at the minutes of
our last few OOTA meetings her name is listed over and over as the initiator of
proposals to improve OT and the one we rely upon to research or communicate
issues. Of course the Presidency will be in the capable hands of Toby Hamilton.
Fortunately for us, Sharon is not leaving OOTA, just the Presidency and we will
have her to mentor new Board and Committee members. This is a great opportunity
for others of our talented membership to step up and become more active in OOTA.
Let us know how you would like to be more involved even for a few hours.
Things going on in OOTA
include plans for the 2007 Annual Conference September 28 and 29 in Tulsa –
volunteers needed – contact Toby Hamilton. Community Promotions has a new
Chairperson, Marlene Snow – let her know how you want to promote your
profession. OOTA nominates Committee members to the Oklahoma Medical Licensure
Board – want to be nominated when a position is available? OT Bucks were a way
to reward and recognize member performance – got a better idea? OOTA contributes
to AOTF student scholarship fund – know a deserving student?
Details of these subjects
and others are reported in full in minutes on the OOTA website.
